The 'Redcoat' was undercoated using plenty of "Citadel" Abaddon Black, before having his trousers and any straps pigmented in "Two Thin Coats" White Star. These areas were then shaded using some heavily watered-down "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade in an effort to 'weather' all the cloth and leatherwork.

Furthermore I applied some "Vallejo" Heavy Bluegrey and "Citadel" Drakehnof Nightshade to the miniature's water bottle, and a combination of "Vallejo" Heavy Brown and "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade to the soldier's bag. Lastly, I used a little "Vallejo" Neutral Grey on the miniature's blanket, and later darkened it down with a splash of "Citadel" Nuln Oil.

| "Mantic Games" WIPs - A trio of Plague Lords at various stages of completion |
For now though I simply want to see how the creature paints up, so have actually produced a trio of the sculpt in "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin using my Mars 5 3D Printer - including one which is a mirror image of the original pose. I must confess to being extremely impressed with how well the miniatures look, and hope to get both them, as well as some other test figures for the Enforcers and Asterians, before the "Epic Warpath" Campaign concludes in a couple of weeks time...

Well done finishing the British Napoleonic, a nightmare to paint.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Phil. Obviously its only a tiny unit - but so many of my units are currently, as I want to field as many Coalition forces as possible. It has though given me even more respect for those painters who churn through large regiments of Redcoats within a week or so.
DeleteGlad to see painted Napoleonic era soldiers!
ReplyDeleteCheers Michal. I've more planned for this month tbh. As I'm trying to get four finished per month - and this British Grenadier was one from October.
DeleteNicely painted, Simon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray. I don't know how you manage to crack out a regiment of French so quick, LOL. All the straps kill me.
DeleteBet your glad to have the last grenadier finished, with how much time each one takes. Hopefully the Plague Lords should be more fun, they may however give Roger nightmares, as he didn't enjoy painting the larger scale ones
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave. I don't mind the British too much once I've worked out what colours I'm going to use etc. But all the white and red is a real pain and takes me a lot of time. Still, I probably won't tackle any more Redcoats until next year now. The Plague Lords are pretty great. I plan to get the MMF Campaign for them. But I'm going to wait until after Warfare before committing.
