The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge 2015 - WIP - Week Six

Molly Hayes WIP - The mutant child's pink top needs finishing before being shaded, as does her toy animal hat
With the Sixth Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge now into its sixth week, I’ve spent a little time working on the “Heroclix” model of Molly Hayes, which I hope to submit into the event's Defensive Terrain Themed Bonus Round.

Having finished painting the little girl's white trainers and dark blue jeans I'm now slowly applying several layers of pink onto the mutant's top and cuddly animal hat. In addition I've started work on the huge piece of grey concrete the diminutive powerhouse is holding above her head in order to protect a trio of passing ducklings from any hazards.
"Imperial Assualt" WIPs - Chewbacca and IG-88 could leap ahead of the painting queue
Along with a trio of Rebel soldiers, I still have one more “Fantasy Flight” bucket-head to complete from the company's "Imperial Assault" Stormtroopers Villain Pack. But that hasn't stopped me basing and priming a wonderfully hairy sculpt of Chewbacca for the board game, as well as a model of the assassin droid IG-88.

As I've previously painted a "Wizard Of The Coast" version of the Wookie, and plenty of "Reaper Miniatures" Cyber-Reavers recently, I'm hopeful that these two figures shouldn't take too long to finish, especially the Holowan Laboratories robot.
Fangtooth WIP - Still lots to do on this bulky metal miniature
Finally I am still trying to paint my Union "Guild Ball" team, and have found some time to progress Fangtooth's flesh despite the miniature itself not actually being eligible for submission to the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge. This rather formidable-looking brute by "Streamforged Games Ltd" is covered in plasters and bumps, and as a result has proved rather time-consuming. Once all the foul-smelling player's flesh is finished I will still need to shade and highlight it, along with his chains...

  1. I love that Molly character. Got Zombicide stats for her?

    1. I do plan to use Princess Power for my "Marvel Zombies" "Zombicide" game DaftPhully. But I haven't worked out any stats for her yet I'm afraid.

    2. Ah The figure is inexpensive enough, for conversions I can see her hoisting a Dalek, or a Cyberman above her head.

    3. Now that would be cool! Perhaps a re-imagination of Susan Foreman, the Doctor's grand-daughter :-)

  2. Fangtooth does seem a rather hefty mini. Looking good.

    1. Cheers Finch. Just applying some washes to his flesh presently. He's a rather time-consuming model for my painting technique unfortunately.

  3. I'm definitely warming to your figure of Molly Hayes. All three Star Wars figures are coming along nicely. I'm particularly impressed with the sculpt of Chewbacca. Fangtooth is taking a long time to finish but I'm sure the end result will be well worth the wait.

    1. Thanks Bryan. Molly is a lovely model imho, if not a little large considering she's a child. The "Star Wars" sculpts are great imho and Chewie is especially well done. Slowly getting there with Fangtooth, slowly...

    1. Thanks Gordon. Shouldn't be too long as Molly has to be submitted by Saturday night.

  6. Whilst I'm familiar with the character, I'd not seen this figure until she appeared on your blog, Simon. Is she relatively new and/or rare? And stop showing me Star Wars figures - Chewie was my first and favourite figure when I was a nipper...must...resist. lovely work, as always.

    1. Cheers Jez. My sculpt of Princess Power came out in 2009 as part of "The Hammer of Thor" expansion. She is a rare, but only cost me $2.79 as part of my last order. Sadly there's loads of "Star Wars" to come yet Jez... loads ;-)

    1. Very kind of you to say Michael. I always like to have plenty on the go... though sometimes this means projects drop off the end of line ;-)

  8. Fangtooth is a beast... Reminds me of an old pal I had back in the UK I nicknamed "Slim".

Molly's coming along very nicely. I had to look the character up and as soon as I saw "Runaways" I remembered her. Super cool character and I'm surprised they made a mini truth be told, but I'm glad they did. :)

Ol' IG88 and his cheese-wedge feet and clamp-hands. Cool concept for a droid bountyhunter, but gawds he is a silly design.

    1. Cheers Dai. Molly is a cracking mini imho, and one of the better later "Heroclix"; albeit she was released 6 years ago now. Fangtooth should look awesome on the tabletop when finished. he really is a great sculpt. but very time-consuming. I've always had a soft spot for IG-88... and despite his clunkiness, I wouldn't like him coming after me :-)

  9. Good stuff Simon, all coming along nicely. I too like IG-88 always thought he was a fun character. Did you know if you look closely behind the bar in EP4 you can see the part they re-used as his head in the background as part of the stuff behind the bar?

Useless information but worth a look, if you're bored one day.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thanks Roger. I didn't know about IG-88's head but have now seen the clip and you're absolutely spot on. Another Roger Golden nugget ;-)
