Lizard Nazi Soldier WIPs - These dinosaur-headed fiends have already had their tails pinned in position |
With the start of the Sixth Analogue Hobbies Painting
Challenge less than a week away I’ve been basing and priming a number of small
mini-projects which I hope to complete over the next three months.
One of these planned undertakings will be to complete a
number of “models from season one of Danger 5” by “Crooked Dice Game Design
Studio”. The company actually produce a range of official models based upon the
Australian action comedy television series, including the “bizarre, 1960’s
inspired version of World War Two” spy team which are sent on a mission “to
kill Adolf Hitler”.
Human Nazi Soldier WIPs - These typical German goons will be painted as Sturmabteilung |
Having previously painted the Fuhrer I’ve subsequently
bought six Human Goons, all armed with Schnesisser machine guns “and Aryan haircuts”,
as well as nine of their wonderful looking Lizardmen of the Third Reich.
Advertised as being “ideal for guarding Hitler’s Golden Murder Palace” I
actually plan for these miniatures to be led by none other than Johann Shmidt, perhaps
better known as the Red Skull. So have prepped their “7TV” Second Edition Hugo
Weaving lookalike Despotic Dictator model as well
Despotic Dictator WIP - The villain will conceal his trademark disfigured face beneath a normal-looking mask |
In addition I have also started to undercoat some of the other figures from the "Crooked Dice" "Danger 5: Starter Set". Colonel Chestbridge is the eagle-headed leader of the international task force and comes armed with his infamous "Sit down gun!"
Very nice! I started watching the show but couldn't get into it - I understood what they were doing, but the show itself didn't click for me. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing these painted up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. I've not really watched the show myself either. Just a few clips on YouTube. But I like the Weird War Two element of it, and having a chap with an eagle head fighting Nazi Lizardmen is just mad... and hopefully a fun tabletop game.
DeleteWell, not the usual type of Nazis, I'll give you that!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Ray. I'm not aware of anyone else doing such a range :-)
DeleteLizard nazis, you never fail to surprise and amaze.
ReplyDeleteCheers Joe. An essential buy for me as soon as I saw their release as I'm a huge fan of Weird War Two.
DeleteThe show is a little hit and miss. The figures look great though.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the Swiss have gold blood and Russians have no emotions! At least you will not have to paint a Nazi plug...
Simon
I was certainly much surprised when "Crooked Dice" revealed this as their 'official TV licence' range, Simon... But as you say the minis are top notch and should paint up rather well - I hope!!
DeleteI knew it! As soon as I saw these, I thought of you Simon. I can't wait to see what you do with them, such wonderful looking miniatures.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha!! These were very much an impulse buy Michael, as I ordered them as soon as I saw they were released. They're just my cup of tea as you quite correctly deduced. Fingers crossed that I can crowbar them into my already packed Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge schedule :-o
DeleteGood for you, mate, for enthusiastically embracing Weird War 2. I'm a big fan of it, too and thus I'm looking forward to your future postings regarding this project. I'm also hoping for a batrep (big hint!).
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan :-) I have plenty of "West Wind" Weird War Two minis (both painted and otherwise) but haven't seen such clever lizardmen sculpts before. A BatRep is certain at some point... and a "Zombicide" rule-set influenced 6mm one of just around the corner ;-)
DeleteDanger 5 was a hilarious show (though I've heard that Season 2 is a bit questionable)! Good to see some of these figures being built & painted.
ReplyDeleteCheers hugh. I'm hoping to do them justice and get this scaly force painted up in good time (for a change)...
DeleteNot familiar with these sculpts, but I like them.
ReplyDelete"Crooked Dice" have only just released them Dai. One of those impulse purchases I had to make just as soon as I saw them :-)
DeleteI did wonder when I saw these released how long it would take you to buy them. Of course, you'll need another set to paint up as "Visitors" in their true forms, to go along with your Nexus ones... (Hey Karl, can I get my commission now?) ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I'm getting quite excited as a spectator for the Challenge - lots of eye candy on the way!
Unsurprisingly it didn't take me long at all to order them Jez, and they were in my eager hands in record time too :-) Having just got a few more Visitors from "Nexus Miniatures" and a Skimmer, I've enough 'lizardmen' to paint as it is. But I do have a couple of simple conversions in mind for two of the "CD" Lizards smoking, as I only want one of that pose, so hopefully I can do something interesting with the others.
DeleteThe best thing about the Challenge is the eye candy, my friend, and like many I'll be up late waiting for the start, so I can get a simple WIP posting up by the end of Day One on Sunday.
I had not seen those figures before. Now I want to see them painted. Lizard Nazis!!!! Bizarre. Very Bizarre. And while I have absolutely no use for them I am strangely drawn to them.
ReplyDeleteThese will be at the top end of my painting queue for the challenge, Clint, as I want to see them painted and based, and on my tabletop too :-) Perhaps you could get them and begin a whole new adventure into the world of weird war?
DeleteWeird War two was looked at as a project but rejected. I might re-start weird west though in the new year.
DeleteAh... Did Bryan lure you into Weird War West with his "High Moon" posting? It certainly got me :-)
DeleteHaving only seen the Youtube clips, I found the whole thing hilarious. Some priceless characters too! Looking forward to these Bk!
ReplyDeleteCheers Bob. Hopefully my paint-jobs won't disappoint, and they'll be some BatReps at some point I'm sure :-)
DeleteThey look great you snagged them quickly! I reckon you should get a kung fu cop hero as well.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't resist Simon, and ordered them just as soon as I saw them :-) I do have a few "Crooked Dice" heroes waiting to be based... one might fit that bill ;-)
