“There Is Precious Little In Civilization To Appeal To A Yeti.”

"Bigfoot comes out of the woods, sits on a rock, and starts eating a rabbit."
These two 40mm metal Sasquatch miniatures made by “Pulp Figures” are from Bob Murch’s “temporarily withdrawn” Lost Tribes range, and are sold as code PLT07 Hairy Hominids. Useful as either Abominable Snowmen or Troglodytes these rather large hefty models are my fifth and final submission for this month’s Mo’Vember Challenge; a facial hair themed event that DickGarrison, Carrion Crow and Punkrabbit are also participating in this time round. Please do visit their respective blogs to see how they’re all got on over the past few weeks.
"Some people say Bigfoot doesn't exist and maybe he doesn't, but all these people have seen something..."
I actually started painting these wonderfully characterful chaps back in January 2015 as part of last year’s Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge. But for some reason only got as far as undercoating the pair with “Vallejo” Heavy Brown, applying a heavy wash of “The Army Painter” Strong Tone Quickshade over the brutes, and then finally dry-brushing them with more “Vallejo” Heavy Brown.
Mo'Vember 2015 - Hairy Hominids, Doctor Who, Scorby, Rage and Adolf Hitler
Having dug them back out of my “Pulp Figures” drawer, I have finished them by painting their flesh with a combination of Heavy Skintone and “Citadel” Reikland Fleshshade, and picked out their teeth and toenails with “Vallejo” White.

    1. Cheers Finch. Its been another fun Mo'Vember and, as you know, I do like to dabble in a variety of genres.

  2. Nice work, Simon. I have a feeling that I would have given them pink bottoms, if I'd painted them, just because it would have made me laugh. Funnily enough, my final post for Mo'vember also includes some hairy hominids, but a little more savage looking.

    1. Thanks Jez. I was somewhat thrown by only one of the sculpts having bald knees, and did actually consider re-painting them white, like your Snow Trolls, so as to use them for "Frostgrave". But in the end went for my original plan of brown shaggy hair and 'pink' flesh.

    1. Cheers Simon. They proved nice and simple to paint in the end. I'm not sure why I didn't finish them first time round.

    1. Thanks Michael. Its a shame these guys are currently OOP as I'd rather like to own another two. But, as you say, its been a good Mo'Vember.

    1. Thanks Bob. Not as prolific an output as your wonderful Zed'Vember but a few pieces done that have been gathering dust in my drawers.

  9. "Sasquatches' are often found in hard to reach and out of focus areas".

Ha Ha! and I thought you were going to be playing safe this year and then you pop these in at the end! Kudos to you sir, love the teeth on them by the way and the one wandering off into the trees in classic fashion.

Mo'vember has been a joy as always, Cheers Roger.

    1. Most kind Roger, and its been a pleasure to see your Mo'Vember entries too :-) These were indeed a last minute entry, as I thought I'd save my "Frostgrave" band for a larger post when more are finished.

  10. It can be strangely satisfying to complete a model that has been languishing for a long time. Well done (and oh, but those Sasquatch are ugly beasts, aren't they?)

  11. I love the bigfoots (bigfeet?), they've turned out really well but I think haing there bottoms a bit more prominent would have been a hoot. I can't really take them seriously as 'monsters' either , they're far too cuddly.

    1. Many thanks Joe. They're certainly one of my fave Bob Murch sculpts so far. Its a pity they're OOP at the moment, as I would get a couple more. They are cuddly critters aren't they :-)

  12. Those Yetis... the sculptor got my likeness down rather too well....
