"I Will Arise From My Own Death To Avenge Hers..."

"...With all the powers of darkness!"

This 28mm scale Vlad Dracul is produced by "Wargames Atlantic" and can be downloaded for free as part of a multi-piece set of STL (Standard Triangle Language) files from their "Patreon" subscription service. Based upon the Transylvanian Count depicted in Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 horror film "Bram Stoker's Dracula", the miniature was produced using "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin on a Mars 3 Pro 3D Printer.

Depicted wearing the suit of armour Vladislaus wore during his "bold pre-dawn sneak attack" against the invading Turks in June, 1462 A.D., the figure was primed using a double-helping of "Vallejo" Heavy Red and shaded in "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson. The model was then carefully dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Red, before its blood-filled chalice was 'picked out' using a combination of Heavy Sienna, Gold and finally "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade. A (un)healthy dollop of "Citadel" Flesh Tearers Red was used to add a little gore to the sacred cup's contents.

"The Daleks captured prisoners and operated on their brains."

Dracula's face was simply pigmented using a combination of "Vallejo" Heavy Skintone and "Citadel" Reikland Fleshshade. Whilst his long hair and beard were given a lick of "Vallejo" Heavy Sienna, sploshed in "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade, and carefully dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Sienna. Lastly, I applied a little line of (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Skintone to the figure's lips, nose and cheeks to bring out a bit more of the impressively crisp print's detail.

Alongside my third (and for now final) "Rumanian Prince from the region of Transylvania", I have also completed a fifth 28mm metal Robomen Guard by "Black Tree Design". As per my previous ones this model can be purchased as Code DW129 Roboman Guard from their "Doctor Who" miniatures range, and is based upon the Dalek's minions from Terry Nation's November 1964 BBC Television story "The Dalek Invasion of Earth".

"Black Tree Design" WIPs - These Sea Devils are being base-layered and washed
The fellow was pigmented in precisely the same way as I've previous done his poor brain-washed, comrades-in-arms, except I decided to spend a little more time on him 'picking out' his jacket with a combination of "Vallejo" Heavy Sienna and "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade. I also thought I'd mark him out a little more with some "Vallejo" Sombre Grey trousers, which were later shaded with "Citadel" Nuln Oil.

Sticking with "Black Tree Design" and the time-travelling Gallifreyan, I have begun basing, priming and shading five Sea Devils from actor Jon Pertwee's tenure as the Third Doctor. The "amphibious variety of Silurians" awakened from their hibernation by the Master are part of a much larger force of reptilian humanoids I aim to submit to the Fourteenth Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge (AHPC). But I thought I'd start with a classic monster which I'd painted many times before - albeit they were all the slightly larger scaled "Warlord Games" versions...

This posting and many others can now be viewed on the main "Fantorical" website.

"Prince Dracula! The Turks Are Falling Back!"

"They retreat! Sultan Mohammed is defeated!"

This 28mm scale Vlad Dracul is produced by "Wargames Atlantic" and can be downloaded for free as part of a multi-piece set of STL (Standard Triangle Language) files from their "Patreon" subscription service. Based upon the Voivode of Wallachia seen in Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 horror film "Bram Stoker's Dracula", the miniature was produced using "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin on a Mars 3 Pro 3D Printer.

Sculpted wearing the Prince's iconic suit of Southern Carpathian armour, the figure was assembled and primed using a double-helping of "Vallejo" Heavy Red. Unfortunately, despite being desperately delicate with the warrior's lengthy spear whilst putting the blood-thirsty ruler together, it was at this point that disaster struck and I inadvertently snapped off the top of its shaft.

"Mongoose Publishing" WIPs - The Midnight Surfer is slowly having his details 'picked out'

Cursing my awkwardness, I did initially consider trying to super-glue the two parts back together where they broke - something which can ordinarily be quite easily achieved where "Loctite" instant adhesive and "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin are concerned. However, I figured a stronger join might prevent future accidents - especially as the hand-weapon was intimidatingly long. So instead snipped the spear-tip off and filed down the pole in Dracul's hand.

Whilst this re-positioning did add to the weapon's wobbliness, it also allowed the blade's head to slightly snuggle into Vlad's hand, and create a much stabler connection. Following these repairs, the figure was shaded in "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson, carefully dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Red, and had its helmet's eye-slits 'picked out' using "Citadel" Abaddon Black. Unsurprisingly, the spear tip itself was pigmented using a combination of "Vallejo" Gunmetal and "Citadel" Nuln Oil, whereas the shaft was treated to some "Vallejo" Heavy Sienna, "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade, and a dry-brush of (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Sienna.

"Warlord Games" WIPs - These Iron Brigade troopers still require some detail work

Alongside my second 'Count Dracula' miniature, I have also started working on some dust-covered 28mm scale metal models originally manufactured by “Mongoose Publishing” as part of the company’s infamous 2012 “Judge Dredd Miniatures Game: Block War” Kickstarter. I'm hoping to clear a few of these "2000 A.D." comic book characters off of my painting desk before the start of the Fourteenth Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge (AHPC), and decided to go with the Midnight Surfer first.

Finally, I've set about progressing a fourth five-man strip of Union soldiers by "Warlord Games". These particular 15mm Epic scale figures come from their "Epic Battles: American Civil War" range and represent the North's Iron Brigade. Sadly, the little metal infantrymen appear to chip incredibly easily, and resultantly require almost endless 'touch-ups', so my enthusiasm for a massive force of the Black Hats has significantly stalled during the past few months...

"Few Can Forget His Automated Argonauts..."

"...Marching up the steps of the British Museum."

This 28mm scale resin model of a Titan is produced by “Crooked Dice Game Design Studio” and can be bought as SKU: MINI 93 Titan B (Standing) from their Villains and Monsters range. The kit comes in three parts, including two separate arms. However, as I wanted this particular robot to be carrying a sword and shield, I gave it the appropriate limbs from the company's marvellous Titan Weapon Arms (SKU: DEAL 85) instead.

Having assembled my 'infamous mechanical monster' with some copper wire, green-stuff, and super-glue, the large figure was primed using plenty of "Vallejo" Heavy Sienna, and later base-coated in Bronze. According to the "7TV" ruleset, this metallic minion is part of Doctor Ulysses Argo’s nefarious criminal arsenal. But, having already painted a pair of unarmed Titans last year, I decided to maintain the heavily-weathered palette I'd used on those - which was inspired by the "living giant bronze statue" seen in Don Chaffey’s 1963 film “Jason And The Argonauts”.

"Crooked Dice Game Design Studio" WIPs - This Titan has been weathered with “Citadel” Nihilakh Oxide

Resultantly, the miniature was shaded using plenty of “Citadel” Agrax Earthshade, before being dry-brushed with (more) “Vallejo” Bronze. Finally, I applied various amounts of “Citadel” Nihilakh Oxide in between its numerous joints and ridges. These areas were later roughly blended back in with the rest of the fearsome figure using a (third) dry-brush of “Vallejo” Bronze. I also considered 'picking out' the robot's sword blade (and potentially round shield) in a steel-colour. However, I liked the notion of the grim-faced golem appearing to be a metal sculpture which had simply sprung to life.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, I have also made some significant progress on a second Titan I have found in my dust-covered backlog. This model is armed with a gladiator-like trident/net combination, and should soon be fully-pigmented in the same well-weathered fashion. Disconcertingly though, I do appear to have bought a third model, presumably equipped with hammer and shield. But having had a good rummage around my more accessible storage areas, I've failed to find hide nor hair of the blessed sculpt.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - These Vlad Dracul figures are slowly having their details 'picked out'

Alongside my somewhat sudden foray into my pile of potential by "Crooked Dice Game Design Studio", I have also busied myself working on some more Vlad Dracul miniatures produced by "Wargames Atlantic". Produced using "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin on a Mars 3 Pro 3D Printer, I'm currently toying with the notion of somehow using these multi-piece kits as a Transylvanian force for some Weird War One wargaming - probably as an ally of the German Kaiser.

For now though, I've just been having some fun following actor Gary Oldman's blood-soaked shenanigans as the vampire in Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 horror film "Bram Stoker's Dracula" - even if the actor's spear-head didn't snap off in the movie like mine did whilst priming the fellow. The manufacturer is currently producing an awful lot of STL (Standard Triangle Language) files to supplement their plastic Great War range, so I anticipate having many more of their figures on my painting table come the start of the new year...

"God Be Praised. I Am Victorious."

"Let this be a lesson to all enemies of the Cross of Christ."

Sculpted wearing the suit of armour he wore whilst campaigning against the Ottoman Empire, the figure was primed using a double-helping of "Vallejo" Heavy Red and shaded in "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson. The model was then carefully dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Red, before his helmet's eye-slits were patiently 'picked out' using a line or two of watered-down "Citadel" Abaddon Black.

"Forged In Battle" WIP - This Maus has been undercoated using "Vallejo" Surface Primer Brown & Heavy Brown

Dracula's sword hilt was simply pigmented using a combination of "Vallejo" Gold and "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade. Whilst the blade was initially base-layered with "Citadel" Abaddon Black, coated in "Vallejo" Gunmetal, washed with "Citadel" Nuln Oil, and finally highlighted with a rough dry-brush of (more) "Vallejo" Gunmetal.

Having finished the first of several potential poses I have plannned for the Impaler using the "Wargames Atlantic" STL files, I have somewhat surprisingly started the annual ritual of assembling, basing and priming a myriad of miniatures for the somewhat imminent Fourteenth Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge (AHPC). To be honest I wasn't planning on participating this year, as I currently have so many half-completed projects littering my hobby desk that I felt dedicating a few months to clearing them would be a much more worthwhile option.

"The Lord Of The Rings" WIPs - Three Black Numenoreans undercoated with "Vallejo" Surface Primer Black

However, having been directly contacted by the event's organiser, Curt Campbell, I thought it would be rude to say "no", and so have committed to my usual target of 500 points by the end of its thirteen-week run. To this end, I have built, based and primed the mammoth 15mm resin Maus by "Forged In Battle" I recently bought from "Westwind Productions" at "Warfare" 2023, as I fancied something reasonably straightforward to start my AHPC entries with.

In addition, I've started assembling the first of twelve Black Numenoreans from "The Lord Of The Rings", which I purchased from "eBay". These 28mm 3D printed 'worshippers of the Darkness' are not officially licenced figures for the "Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game" by "Games Workshop". But having got sick of waiting for the Nottingham-based company to re-release their range of 'corrupted men' for my Barad-Dur army, I finally bit the bullet and bought some proxies instead...

"Bobby Is At The Xavier Institute When It Is Attacked..."

"...And arrives at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier with the other X-Men and Magneto."

This 32mm scale plastic model of an undead Bobby Drake is produced by “CoolMiniOrNot” and can be found inside the "Marvel Zombies: X-Men Resistance" expansion set for Zombicide. Unsuccessfully "sent back down to the surface to battle the zombies" by the Leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Resistance, this particular incarnation of Iceman was created by Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips for the May 2007 issue of "Marvel Zombies: Dead Days" by "Marvel Comics".

Originally undercoated using a mixture of "Vallejo" White Surface Primer and their White Model Colour paint, the figure and his impressively sculpted skull-headed base were absolutely drenched in a torrent of Drakenhof Nightshade, before being given several patient dry-brushes of "Two Thin Coats" White Star using an old make-up brush. The founding X-Man's eyes were then picked out with (more) "Two Thin Coats" White Star, some heavily watered-down "Vallejo" Turquoise and two further dots of White Star by "Two Thin Coats".

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - These two Vlad the Impaler figures have been primed, shaded and dry-brushed

For the final, gory touch, the brain-chomping zombie's mouth was splodged in "Citadel" Flesh Tearers Red, dry-brushed with (even more) "Two Thin Coats" White Star, and subsequently bloodied back up with a dab or two of "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson. I did consider adding some additional claret to other parts of the mutant-turned-walking dead comic book character - possibly even mixing some extra "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson in with the sculpt's base to better separate it from Bobby. But in the end I felt that less was probably more with this particular miniature.

Alongside this latest addition to my slowly growing collection of Zombicide gaming pieces, I have also managed to 3D print a couple of 28mm multi-part Vlad Dracul figures by "Wargames Atlantic" in "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin. These STL (Standard Triangle Language) files were clearly inspired by Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 movie "Bram Stoker's Dracula", and having read Peter Breau's excellent Weird War One comic "Mud And Madness", in which the Transylvanian Count is penned aiding the Kaiser's army, I thought the Eastern nobleman might make an eye-catching Commander for my own fantasy-based German WW1 contigent using "Xenos Rampant".

"Games Workshop" WIPs - These three Sons of Horus Space Marines have been assembled and primed

I did actually plan on pigmenting a third variant of the model, using some more of the surplus weapon arms which come with the digital product - such as a huge two-handed pike. However, for some reason my Mars 3 Pro 3D Printer wasn't apparently too happy with the third torso on its build plate, so simply produced a flat puddle of semi-cured resin in its spot. Of course, this means I've now got an excuse to make another batch of body parts, and may well take up this opportunity to include some First World War hand-guns or rifles for the Impaler to hold.

Lastly, I've primed another trio of 28mm MK IV former Luna Wolves Space Marines by "Games Workshop". These traitors were assembled using the sprues found in the now sadly Out Of Production (OOP) "The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth" boardgame, and once completed will help form a third tactical infantry unit for my Sons of Horus legion. I really am finding myself to be increasingly enthused to complete this project, so aim to properly knuckle down next month in order to quickly get the Warmaster's renegades battling across the world of Isstvan III.

3D Printing - "Wargames Atlantic" Tribe

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - Three of the six N’Glonhgk Infantry currently being worked on

All of these miniatures were created using "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin on a Mars 3 Pro 3D Printer and are available as STL (Standard Triangle Language) files from "Wargames Atlantic" on "MyMiniFactory" under their "Atlantic Digital" umbrella. The figures are all from the company's "WW2 US Navy Landing Party", "Death Fields N’Glonhgk Infantry" and "82nd Airborne" releases.

To be honest, this is only the second Tribe on "MyMiniFactory" which I've ever followed, the other being a short-lived tenure with "Eli3D", and initially, I wasn't all that convinced by the rather range specific selection of extra heads, conversion parts and farm animals on offer. However, these somewhat haphazard objects were just the manufacturer getting started, and these days I actually regret not joining their subscription service sooner as I now need to purchase their excellent-looking Napoleonic Russians in Greatcoats, Victorian Policemen and German Treasure Hunters separately - amongst many other older sets.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - These 82nd Airborne were all printed as single-piece figures

The N’Glonhgk Infantry are probably my favourite of their releases so far, and are actually the digital files which first made me decide to financially support their content. I don't admittedly own any of the Death Fields plastic kits, nor necessarily intend to in the future. But there was something about the frog-faced extra-terrestrials which cried out to me to buy them, and having recently acquired a copy of "Xenos Rampant" by "Osprey Publishing", I thought the bulky aliens would make for a marvellous science-fiction skirmish force Ă  la "Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars!"

The number of poses possible from this kit is impressively diverse, with the STLs containing five torsos, numerous heads, eight different weapon-carrying hand/arms and a variety of open-handed left limbs too. Furthermore, one of the beauties of 3D printing is that the figures can simply be 'mirrored' in "Chitubox" to essentially double the possibilities. Assembly was also very easy for my squad of intergalactic amphibians, with the various pieces of "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin forming a stunningly solid bond with one another when adhered using superglue.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - The join of the heads to neck seemingly creates each model's hairline

Perhaps the most modeller-friendly set I've so far encountered though, are the miniatures from the 82nd Airborne Division, which have an option of being produced as a small team of single-piece soldiers. Obviously, even with a bit of pre-processing software jiggery-pokery this does mean the poses are pretty limited. However, it has meant that I've been able to print, base and prime a handful of "All-Americans" in quick succession - potentially as opposition to a Weird War Two invasion by the N’Glonhgk.

Lastly, I've taken the time to assemble and undercoat a group of sailors from the WW2 US Navy Landing Party kit. These figures come with the option of already being stood on puddles; something which makes basing them an absolute joy, and are presented with an array of M1-Garande rifle-carrying poses. I was a bit disappointed that there is no option to readily print the miniatures with the heads already in place upon the shoulders. But I suppose it does provide that additional variety option I've already harped on about, and means that later on I may well be able to add some helmets to the landing party too...

"A Streak Of Silver Crosses The Sky..."

"...Heralding the Devourer Of Worlds."

This 32mm scale plastic model of the Silver Surfer is produced by “CoolMiniOrNot” and can be found inside the "Marvel Zombies: Galactus The Devourer" expansion set. Created by artist Jack Kirby, the "humanoid alien with metallic skin who can travel through space with the aid of his surfboard-like craft" made his first comic book appearance in the March 1966 issue of "Fantastic Four" by "Marvel Comics".

The entire model was initially treated to a double coat of "Vallejo" Surface Primer Grey, before being given two layers of Mythril Blade from "Duncan Rhodes Two Thin Coats" range. The founding member of the "Titans Three" and his indestructible cosmic board was then shaded using some heavily watered-down Oblivion Black Wash and patiently dry-brushed with (more) Mythril Blade.

"CoolMiniOrNot" WIPs - This zombie Silver Surfer is awaiting various washes

I did momentarily consider 'picking out' the Silver Surfer's eyes with a little White Star. Yet in the end decided to leave the pupils well enough alone. I also pondered doing something with the sculpt's slightly swirling base, rather than simply give it a couple of licks of "Citadel" Abaddon Black. However, once again I felt anything other than a plain colour might distract the eye from the actual miniature itself.

Alongside this "powerful herald" though, I have been busy additionally pigmenting the expansion's Zombie Silver Surfer figure. This model was initially painted in precisely the same manner as Norrin Radd's uninfected incarnation. But will subsequently be 'rotted up' with various green, brown and red shades, as well as a few dollops of "Vallejo" Heavy Red and "Citadel" Flesh Tearers Red.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - These N'Glonhgk Infantry have been primed, shaded and dry-brushed

Furthermore I have successfully 3D printed, assembled and primed half a dozen N’Glonhgk Infantry by "Wargames Atlantic". These frog-headed extra-terrestrials form part of the company's Death Fields range, and took a couple of evenings to produce on account of the heads, bodies, weapons and arms all being separate STL (Standard Triangle Language) files.

Luckily, being composed of "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin each alien was assembled without much difficulty using a small amount of super-glue. I aim to give the 'Frog Men' a rather straightforward colour scheme so as to get them on the tabletop quite quickly, and hope to use them as the start of a much larger "Xenos Rampant" campaign where the bipedal carnivorous amphibians attempt to invade the Earth during the Second World War in an effort to turn the planet's population into a giant source of food...

"The Aquaphibians Are An Aquatic Humanoid Species..."

"...From the Supermarionation series Stingray."

This 28mm scale Aquaphibian was sculpted by "Big Mr Tong" and can be downloaded for free as part of a ten-figure set of STL (Standard Triangle Language) files from his "Patreon" subscription service. Based upon Titan's monstrous minions from the 1964 science-fiction television show "Stingray", the miniature was produced using "Elegoo" Water Washable Resin on a Mars 3 Pro 3D Printer.

The figure was initially undercoated in "Vallejo" Heavy Grey, before being consecutively drowned in "Citadel" Biel-Tan Green and Agrax Earthshade. It was then heavily dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Grey and having all its fins 'picked out' with a base layer of "Citadel" Abaddon Black. These areas were later treated to a combination of "Vallejo" German Camouflage Dark Green and "Citadel" Biel-Tan Green.

"Pendraken Miniatures" WIPs - This Tiger tank has been primed, shaded and dry-brushed

Finally, I gave the Aquaphibian's "poisonous gas gun" a lick of "Citadel" Abaddon Black, "Vallejo" Gunmetal and "Citadel" Nuln Oil. Feeling that the 'puppet' possibly lacked some of the silver Videcolor shine seen on the small screen I did consider giving the entire miniature a light dry-brush of "Vallejo" Gunmetal. However, in the end I decided to leave well enough alone, fearing that the slightest misjudgement in tip pressure could result in me having to repaint the entire model again thanks to a misplaced metallic splodge.

Alongside my most recent 3D printed figure I have also been working on (even) more 10mm armoured vehicles by "Pendraken Miniatures". To be honest this particular project has suffered a bit of a slump in recent days on account of my running out of the Middlesbrough-based manufacturer's WWII German Insignia and Swastika [Insignia outlined in white] decals. Whilst this little predicament doesn't obviously directly affect my painting, it does mean I can't quite call the particular trio of Panzer IIs I've been working on completely finished and that's always annoying when I'm truly in the groove for any given genre.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - Four freshly assembled World War One Germans

To try and offset my disappointment as I impatiently wait for Leon to pick and post my transfers (along with a few new shines I bought to ease my pain), I have made some good progress on the two Tiger tanks I bought from him at Salute 50. These are super-chunky, heavy beasts, and I'm grateful to those on the Pendraken Forum who kindly helped me master assembling the beauties after I failed to ascertain where certain parts of the metal kit were supposed to be placed.

In addition, I have finished assembling another four 28mm German Infantry (1916-1918) by "Wargames Atlantic". These multi-part plastic soldiers will be added to the other six I recently glued together so as to form the basic core of my Early Great War Conscripts detachment for "Xenos Rampant". I'm actually planning on pigmenting these 'Weird War' soldiers 'en-mass' as part of a twelve-hour painting experiment early next month in an effort to see whether I can batch them in a week...

"Development Of The PaK 40 Began In 1939..."

"...With both Krupp and Rheinmetall developing designs for testing and adoption."

This plastic 15mm 7.5cm Anti-Tank Gun team is sold by “Battlefront Miniatures” and is one of two eight-piece sprues (not including crew) which can be found inside the company’s “Hit The Beach” starter set for “Flames Of War”. The models consists of a single Panzerabwehrkanone 40 gun with four soldiers, and is the second of three stands I aim to field as part of a full-strength 7.5cm Tank Hunter Platoon for my German Beach Defence Company.

Initially undercoated using a double-helping of "Vallejo" Dark Yellow, the gun was washed with "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade and heavily dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Dark Yellow. I then applied some sporadic patches of camouflage across the weapon, using a combination of “Vallejo” Heavy Brown, Luftwaffe Camouflage Green and Heavy Sienna. All of these areas were subsequently washed with “Citadel” Agrax Earthshade, before being highlighted back up with (more) “Vallejo” Heavy Brown, of Luftwaffe Camouflage Green and Heavy Sienna. Lastly, I applied some "Citadel" Abaddon Black to the Pak 40's rubber tyres.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - These Three German Infantry (1916-1918) have been assembled & primed

With the Anti-Tank gun finished, I turned my attention to pigmenting the crew. The majority of these figures were painted in situ. But I quickly decided to paint the team's NCO whilst he was temporarily super-glued to a wooden stick. As with all my other “FoW” German soldiers, the miniatures were primed in “Vallejo” German Fieldgrey WWII, shaded using “Citadel” Nuln Oil, and dry-brushed with (more) “Vallejo” German Fieldgrey WWII. Their details were then ‘picked out’ predominantly using “Vallejo” Gunmetal, German Camouflage Dark Green, Heavy Brown and a series of “Citadel” Shades.

In addition, the crew's fully-open shell box was quickly treated to some "Vallejo" Buff and "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade. Whilst it's contents were given a lick of "Vallejo" Brass, a dash of (more) "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade and a smidgeon of "Citadel" Abaddon Black to their tips. This colour scheme was then also applied to the two large projectiles which the soldiers were in the process of loading into their weapon.

"Wargames Atlantic" WIPs - More German Infantry (1916-1918) have been assembled & primed

Having completed the latest addition to my German D-Day Defence Grenadier Company, I have started assembling a half-dozen German Infantry (1916-1918) by "Wargames Atlantic". These multi-part plastic soldiers will form the start of a potentially rather large Weird War One project using the Early Great War Conscripts detachment list found towards the back of Daniel Mersey and Richard Cowen's science fiction wargame battles rule-book "Xenos Rampant". But for now I'm simply aiming to get a few of the figures tabletop ready.

Furthermore, I'm planning on using the miniatures as some test pieces for a monthly personal challenge where I spend twelve hours (spread across a few consecutive evenings) tirelessly putting a brush to just my select few models - as opposed to moving from different scales, genres and manufacturers multiple times throughout a single hobby session. I'm hoping this approach will help me quickly paint a core unit for various game systems, which I can then simply add to a bit more haphazardly as time goes by...
